Contact numbers
Please do not call any staff mobile numbers that you have been given in the past. For all queries and enquiries please phone our office number 0844 809 9218 at all times. This is a very busy number as our agency is run from this number too, so if it goes on to answer phone, leave a message and we will get back to you asap. If there is a show or trip you will be given an emergency contact number for that period only!
Appearance
Can we please ask that all children have their hair in a neat bun for all classes.
Exams
LAMDA
We are just waiting to receive our individual time slots etc. but your child’s monologue exam will be on either the 12th or 13th May, as previously notified.
RAD
Congratulations to all children who did their ballet exams. We had a 100% pass rate with some nice high distinctions in there too. Well done girls!
It’s nice to see so many new faces in our primary grades, but we would like to see some more of you trying out ballet as it is such an important dance discipline. Let us know if you would be interested in a free trial.
Notice board/facebook/website
As the school is growing at our various venues it is really important that you keep an eye on the notice board for updates and information. A lot of you may know our facebook site is the quickest way to relay important info to you all!

Uniform
We have been asking for parents of the children in our baby classes to put elastic in their children’s shoes. We have asked for this on numerous occasions, so now our committee has said if you hand your child’s shoes in with a £2.00 donation, they will do it for you! This makes life so much easier all round when changing their shoes.
Summer Schools
As you may have seen on our notice board we have some exciting courses running over the summer. Our Disney workshop runs from Mon 30th July – Fri 3rd August and is aimed specifically at boys and girls age 3 – 7. It will run from 10.00am – 4.00pm daily and children may bring a friend if they wish. Places are booking up fast so secure your place asap.
After a year’s break from our residential course, we pleased to say it is back on again this summer. All boys and girls from any of the branches are welcome to attend this trip, it runs from 13th – 17th August. If you would like more information please feel free to speak with a member of staff. See the notice board for other courses.
Boxes
We are in need of some storage containers to keep all our costumes in. These are the deep square plastic boxes with lids. We would be very grateful of any donations and thank you to those who have already donated boxes/money for us to buy some.

Acrobatics
Just to let you know our acrobatic classes are open to everyone aged 5 and over. We will soon be starting our pre-school acrobatics class, which will be open to all Baby Stage School pupils.
Singing lessons
Private singing lessons are now available. These are very popular and on a first come first served basis. If you would like to book your child in for say 1 lesson a week/month then please let us know.
House points
For those of you who are wondering what the disks that the children have been coming out of class with are for? These go towards points individually and for their teams. Points make prizes!
Agency
Yet again another big week in the agency with auditions and jobs, from Waterloo Road, cbeebies - ‘Get Set Go’, Robinsons Britvic, a BBC Dickens series, Tesco’s jubilee weekend commercial, Junior magazine, Billy Elliott the musical and Matilda the musical.
Savings Club
Just a reminder we have reopened our savings club to help parents save towards anything from uniform to summer schools and fees etc. Have a chat with June for more info.
Late for class
Please be aware that if your child is late for class in the morning they will have to wait until their next class to go in. It is unfair on the teachers and students to have children wondering in half way through the class. Please be on time!

February 2012 Newsletter
We had a good start to the New Year with the first half of term, lots of auditions in the agency with children up for the Sound of Music, Billy Elliott etc.
Annie
We are a little bit nearer to home when our Annie orphans appear in the next leg of the Annie tour at Fairfield Hall Croydon. So we thought it would be nice to arrange a group trip for us all to go. This trip is open to all, the more the merrier. We will be going to see the evening performance on Thursday 21st at 7.00pm – adults £18.00 and children £12.50. Please book your tickets with a member of staff asap – everyone will love this family favourite and our orphans are amazing!
Exams
We have now been given a date for our BATD jazz and tap exams, this will be on Saturday 7th May. This is a little later than anticipated however due to an examiner shortage in the South, there is nothing we can do. Your child should come home with a sheet telling you what exams they are taking and costs etc. We will be holding an RAD Ballet exam session in July and LAMDA in May so watch out for more info.
Baby Classes
Please can we ask again that your children’s dance shoes have elastic in them so that it is easier for the teachers to change from one pair to another. Also in the winter months if they are to wear anything on their legs and you find it is too cold for white ankle socks, they may wear white ballet tights and if their upper body is cold they can wear a Bright Sparks T-shirt or tracksuit top only.
Ballet/Performers
We are finding that some children who are part of our performers troupe are not regularly attending their ballet classes. They must attend their ballet classes to be part of our troupe, attendance is compulsory! If they miss their ballet class for more than 2 consecutive weeks, I am afraid they will have to leave the performers troupe.
Furthermore the ballet and performers uniform has been appalling, please make sure your child has all the correct uniform and wears it. If you are unsure please ask a member of staff.
Weekend Away
We are arranging a trip to Haven on Friday 10th to Sunday 12th June for any children who wish to attend and are age 6 and over. It would be a great opportunity for all the children to spend some time together outside of dancing and have loads of fun.
Hackney Empire
Well done to all the children who took part in the multicultural event at the Hackney Empire last Sunday – you were all fab and we were very proud!
Fundraising
Throughout the year and especially at Christmas time we need transport to get children to and from their different events i.e. competitions, fetes and displays etc. We would love to be able to fully fund these trips but feel there are only a small handful of parents who actually support these events. We are therefore asking for any ideas on how to raise money to support your children. You don’t have to have your child directly involved in the events to support us, we are asking for help from all parents at all venues.
Over the coming weeks our first fundraising project will be to ask everyone to donate a chocolate Easter egg, large bar of chocolate, box of chocolate etc. for our Easter tombola. All donations gratefully received!
Star Power
The Star Power competition will be held this year on 21st and 22nd of May. Any children are welcome to enter this competition with solos, doubles, trebles etc. If you wish your child to enter you will need to discuss this with us as they will need some private lessons. We will however be entering some group numbers and if your child is involved in this they will be notified.
